Europe on Interail

Adam Hughes, my best friend won two free tickets with Interail, a train ticket company, around the whole of Europe that was valid for one month. After inviting me to go along with him, we roughly made a plan of where we should visit.

OUR ROUTE:
AMSTERDAM - BERLIN - PRAGUE -VIENNA - ROME -PARIS - ESSEX

AMSTERDAM
We started off in Amsterdam, and this was where I had my first hostel experience. We walked into our dorm room, and it was huge. I'm guessing that there were around 30 bunk beds...Or maybe there was less and I was so overwhelmed that it all seemed so much bigger!.
Amsterdam was fun, the hostel was busy and we made friends with two guys. We visited nearly all of the museums, including the Van Gogh and the Anne Frank house.

BERLIN

I had already been to Berlin with my parents a few years earlier, but I was glad to go again as it had changed so much and changed into this good vibe city.
After all the reconstruction of Berlin, it was amazing to go back and see the changes that have been made. It was hard to find my way around!. We took a great walking tour that took us all around the city and learning all about the war and how it affected the city.
On this same walking tour we met two girls who were just as silly as us and we passed a lot of time with them.

PRAGUE

Prague is a beautiful place, a totally magical place with a great feel about it. We rented a room in a family's house for the week that we were there, which was lovely. It looked like we were in the master bedroom as the parents were sleeping in another part of the house.
We met the two girls again (the ones from the Berlin walking tour) and had dinner with them before we went our separate ways again.

VIENNA

Vienna was a lovely peaceful city and we were staying quite close to the Burmuda triangle, the main drinking and eating area of the city.
Our Hostel room was an extension of the regular hostel as it was summer and the city was full of tourists. We were in a barn-like room with around 30 bunkbeds in it, and not only did it look like a barn it sounded like one past 11pm every night. The amount of people that snored in that room was incredible. There were pigs, cows, tractors...and I had a cold and felt dreadful, which didn't make my sleeps any easier. In the end I managed to get a room in the main hostel, as I felt too guilty about giving my cold to anybody else.

ROME

I loved Rome, we met some fun people there in our hostel especially Mario the hostel owner, a big loud smelly Italian guy.
We completely immersed ourselves in the churches, fountains and the Vatican.

PARIS

On the journey from Rome to Paris a carton of Orange juice had burst in my rucksack and I had orange pulp over everything. By then it was time go home. I think Adam blames it on the orange juice that we finished our trip a little early, but I think he was quite happy to get home too!.
We did have a good time in Paris and stayed in a funky hostel with a bar as the reception desk!
