Pakistan. Islamabad- Rawalpindi-Islamabad-Lahore

Well, here we are...Finally. We've been looking forward to this trip for a long time and so far things are just as we expected, if not better.
The flight over here was long, but ok, despite three kids next to us screaming all the way here. For the first 2 nights in Islamabad we were staying at a UN guesthouse (we got caught out by a taxi driver on the way from the airport!!) and then spent another night in a cheaper better located one. Islamabad was ok, but nothing special. Not so much to do and not very exciting, but it was quite a nice place to start as we had no hassles from people, even at the airport!. Not what we were expecting from the capital city!. As we were getting over our jetlag and getting used to being here, we basically just looked around and checked out food and shops. On our last day in Islamabad, we went to Rawalpindi and visited the markets there. Rawalpindi was much more like the Pakistan that we were expecting, busy, chaotic, fast and friendly. Loved it!.
The next day, after running out of things to do in inner Islamabad, we took a bus to Lahore and ended up in this fantastic hostel in the centre.
We arrived and almost ran to get some food as we had saved ourselves the whole journey to wait to eat when we got here (and that was hard as we had eaten so much over Christmas!!). Then we were so Hungry that we couldn't find anything. After eating we got talking to other tourists in the hostel, and I was given (as every other female guest was) a free Shalwar kameez (Pakistani dress. a long tunic and funny looking trousers) to keep!.
So, yesterday we went with 2 Japanese to the old city and the mosque and had a great time, meeting some lovely people. In the evening (last night) we went to a Sulfi night that was arranged by the hostel. The evening started with sitting on the floor for 2 hours eating curry, sweets cakes and tea, then at midnight, drummers came on stage and started drumming (I guess that's obvious) and started spinning. Then dancers joined in , spinning, shaking and rocking to the beat of the drums. This lasted for around 4 hours, but after around 2 we left as it was just a little too much culture for one day!.
Today, a little sleepy, the four of us set of again to see the city, this time we went to a market full of everything that you could ever want... . Tonight, another evening of music, this time the hostel is arranging musicians to come to play on the roof top...Should be good.
In the morning, the two of us are off to the country, to a place that the guy from this hostel owns, a small guest's.
Plans for late in our trip? We are off to see Rafi (from Nyhavn) in Peshawar on the 13th. We have booked our train journey today.
