Paris

On Saturday, we woke up early and hit the weekend market that was down the road. This market was mentioned in the Lonely Planet as one of the good markets and we were really lucky that we didnt have to search for ages to find it. We started down there and even though it was close to 10am it was still opening up. It was a big mix of brand names, second hand cool junk and absolutly useless junk. And the SIZE of this place, it was massive I heard that it had around 2000 stalls. When we got tired of the market, we made our way to the Sacre Cour and to the Salvador Dali museum there. The view from the church was beautiful, a wondeful place to view the city from. It was actually a nice area to walk around - despite my feelings for other tourists in big tourist attractions!. It reminded me of Nyhavn, as it was packed with people and restaurants, but for once I was not working there!.
I loved the Dali exhibition, it was small and had some wonderful things that I have wanted to see for a while. After walking around the area and seeing the Moulin Rouge, we jumped on the metro again and went back to the hotel. Finally a plug for the bath. I soaked and soaked myself then we had a little nap to get ready for the evening ahead.
The evening started by us going to the Bastille area again (our thinking was that we had allready seen some good restaurant / bar areas there and it is not to far from the hotel when we want to go home!) we started off in a wonderful bar with live jazz where we started off with wine and then went on to cocktails...yummy. Before we drank too much I made sure that we ate something, so we went in search for a nice, French restaurant. We walked around a while and as there were so many options we almost got stuck. We ended up walking into the next restaurant we saw that was way off the main drag. We were taken to a small table right in the middle of the small busy restaurant and sat next to two French Gay guys on the table next to us. They told us that we had a made a great decision as they go there everytime they want to eat out and treat themselves, and that they only live round the corner. That started off our meal perfectly to know that it was a good place to eat - and we were the only tourists, hurrah!. They helped us with the menu as it was all in French and put us onto the great deal of a three course menu with some fantastic dishes.
For starters we both started off with a cold meat platter and a wonderful bottle of red. The French next to us recommended what they were both having, and after a while I decided that it DID look so good and despite what I thought they told me that it was I decided to go for it too.
I had misunderstood what they told me that it was, and it turned out to be liver and kidneys. It was delicious, but I was sure that I was eating something completly different and worse!. I completly embarased myself when i found out that I was not eating testicles, and the waitress (a wonderfully warm large lady who owned the place) found me very amusing!. Lovely homecooked franch food. After dinner we ended up doing a little drinking in different bars, and then decided that we would try out Parisian clubbing.
After ages of walking round and round the small side steets comptetly lost looking for a club that we had seen earlier, we walked past an apartment block and two French guys were leaning out the window. They invited us in, as they were having a house party!. As we walked in people were speeking to us in French, as if they were expecting us. Fantastic. The whole apartment was full, one room had a DJ in it where we danced our socks off, and the kitchen was full of drinks and even more people. It was such an amazing evening, to gatecrash a party in France, to feel so welcome and make so many friends. We got home at about 10 in the morning I think, and spent the whole of the next day recovering.
Today we have been to the Louvre and yes, I know it is a wonderful place, but we didnt really have a plan of what we wanted to see so we kept getting lost and walking through the same places again and again!. By the end of it we just wanted to get out so we were walking past so many beautiful things looking for the exit!. From there, maurice wanted to go back to the hotel, so i jumped on to a sightseeing bus and drove round the city for the rest of the day. It was nice to see all the sights like this and gave me a good overview of the city. Before getting back to the hotel, I stopped of in the Latin quarter and walked round more quaint side streets and then jumped onto the metro again back to the hotel.
Were flying back to Copenhagen in the morning and I really really dont want to leave yet. Theres still so much to see and do!.
