Here I am again, sorry about the time it took for the last post to publish!
We met Sajid for dinner before our train journey here. He took us to a great Chinese restaurant (sometimes you need a change of diet eh!) and then saw us on to the train. It was great to see him and hopefully the 4 of us will meet up in Lahore again to see some cricket later on in Jan/Feb.
The train journey was great fast asleep in our little beds the whole way here, and arrived quite early in the morning.
after all the excitement of seeing Arifs and his family and then Sajid, we really needed a break and so that day we hung around in the hostel that we found and slept, ate, chatted to all the other guests. It was the first time that we have done nothing at all all day since we got to Pakistan, so it was a well deserved rest. We even made a pact not to speak to each other until the sun went down! I broke that at around 2 pm!.
The Hostel that we are in is good, we have a double room, although there are dorm beds. The other guests are cool, but even lazier than us!.
The next day, yesterday, we went into the old city of Peshawar. I'm telling you people..Its JUST how I imagined it to be.
Cobble stoned streets, tall elegant (though run down) buildings left over from the time of the British, market stalls everywhere, hussle and bussle (even though it was Sunday and not many things open) and that smoky, dusty atmosphere. The only difference from then and now I felt was the pollution from cars and rickshaws. We went with a German girl and an Austrian guy, shopped, took great pics and had a wonderful lunch looking over all the chaos of the streets.
Today, we meant to do a few things but it was one of those days that just doesn't work. Maurice wanted to go to the gym in the old city, he got there and it was closed. We met at the fort in the city, and were not allowed in. We went to the Museum but that had closed early. The only thing we have done today was got to a small carnival opposite the fort and watched a magic show! Just have to relax then!.
We have been in touch with Rafi and will be calling him again tomorrow to go and see him and his family.
Love to you all!
